Two Chaps

Two Chaps is a vegetarian cafe in Marrickville, it's tiny and popping by on a weekend seems like the epitome of hipsterdom, with bearded coffeegoers in long shorts & printed collared shirts (singlets or open sided wife beaters in the summer), sockless topsiders and caps or hats of different shapes and sizes. There's also the people in active wear. Like me.

The menu  has a variety of sweet and savoury dishes, and most can be veganized or made gluten free if needed. We have been a few times now, and love the flavour combinations - special mention goes to the crumpets that are also a favourite.

I cannot resist hash browns. A good hash brown must be crunchy and crisp on the outside and soft but solid on the inside. It can't be too big or too small - if I'm going to need to eat five to be full that's a bit too small, mate - and I appreciate a good cafe that puts its own twist on the classic, but still makes it taste good. Thanks, Two Chaps.

My crumpet loving friend also loves this dish, it has just the right amount of sweetness and the use of labneh (instead of the usual ricotta) balances out the dish well.

Two Chaps is at 122 Chapel Street in Marrickville They also do dinners that we hope to be trying soon!
